Matthew’s starring in FX’s new pilot, The Bridge

If you follow Matthew’s twitter, you may have read some exciting news!
Matthew is part of a new pilot for FX, The Bridge and if it’s picked up he’ll have a recurring role!
He’s reuniting with SLC Punk and Home Run Showdown star Annabeth Gish whom he credits for being a hero of his.
Annabeth isn’t the only familiar face on The Bridge as Matt will also star with Ted Levine whom he worked with on Deep Dark Canyon and Diane Kruger who was in Wicker Park is one of the leads.
Diane along with Demian Bechir star as a pair of homicide detectives who have to work together on a murder case on the Mexican and American border.

‘Homeland’ writer Meredith Stiehm was commissioned to adapt The Bridge from the Swedish and Danish original ‘L BROEN’, executive produced by Meredith, Hawaii Five-0’s Elwood Reid, Carolyn Bernstein, Lars Blomgren and Jane Featherstone. Gerardo Naranjo who directed the gritty film Miss Bala, will direct.

If the show gets picked up for a full run by FX, Matthew will be recurring as a regular, Daniel Frye.
THR were first on the scene with their exclusive character description.

“Should the Bridge earn a series order, Lillard will heavily recur as Daniel Frye, a cocky reporter with the El Paso Times whose hard partying ways have taken a toll on his once promising journalism career.”

We look forward to seeing Matthew on screen and would love to see him in The Bridge weekly!
