Exclusive: Extras in line for Fat Punk filming in Seattle’s Sunset Tavern!
Today, yours truly, intrepid reporter, Katie was searching to see if anyone had seen any moviemaking in Seattle.
Twitter came up trumps and sent us to Sunset Tavern’s DJ, Greg and his wife Jana who were cast as The Perfect Couple, they nailed it in three takes and we look forward to seeing their perfection!
Eagle-eyed Nick was at work, ZippyCart – Shopping Cart Reviews, and happened to look out of the window, where he saw a large queue of people that kept increasing. One group of extras went in at 2pm, and another at 4pm.
Curiousity got the better of him and he found out that they were the extras for Matthew’s short film, Fat Punk, based on Fat Kid Rules The World!
Nick kindly shared these pictures with us and I’m glad to see that these people were well prepared with a ball, a book, food and good company in each other!
There is a lot of waiting around on a production set, so it’s fantastic to see these people took the time to come and help make Matthew’s directing debut possible and just a bit more fleshed out in the background. You rock!
Thanks Nick from ZippyCart, for the pictures. If you were there today, please feel free to share your stories of being on set for Fat Punk!
So I stuck around from 4pm until 1:40am for the “Fat Punk” shooting. I was graced to be called “punk dude” and “hot stuff” by Matt. The first one was because I had a bi-hawk and the second, because I was making out with my girlfriend while having a bi-hawk.
The shooting was fun. They had raffles for the extras and served us some Vietnamese sandwiches. I also got to check out Whiskey Tango, who I’ve been wanting to hear for a while.
Matt was hilarious and kept us going. He brought a ton of energy to the set, and, while being tired, was able to keep everyone energized. His directing shout-outs of “This if fucking PUNK” made everyone laugh, while keeping our spirits up.
The only bad part is I wanted a website to plug for the shoot on my blog. Why? Being a fan of SLC Punk, I really want Matt’s project to succeed. I talked to Ben, but didn’t get an answer on a website. I’m going to interview Whiskey Tango very soon, and I’d like a site to plug for Matt. I’m going ahead on the interview, but I’ll be bugging Mr Lillard for a site to give him some traffic. I WANT THIS MOVIE TO BE MADE!!!!
I can always make a mini site on this site’s host to hold all the info for Fat Punk in the meanwhile, before breathing media make a small site? Thanks so much for your fantastic comment, this is exactly what I was hoping to hear would come of the shoot.
Hi there 🙂
I was wondering if there are going to be pictures posted from last night’s set-up? I was there and would love to see the pictures/gallery.
I had a really great experience being on set. The cast/crew were awesome and friendly. Matthew made exceptions for me…by putting me up front and making me a set-up in the back. I really appreciated all of it.
Thank you so much to everyone there. It was awesome 🙂

Cool, let me know when the mini-site is up. For now, I’m linking to this post. I’m crafting up an interview for Whiskey Tango tonight, so it might be a few days before I post it to the blog.
Hi Chris, really interested in your blog. Great way to see how marketing can make or break something, either people hearing about your band or supporting an actor in a project like this! Do you know how many people were there roughly?
Looked to be about 40 to 50 people at the film shoot. Some people left around 5pm. Not sure of the exact number.

Interview with Whiskey Tango is up on my site, now. Wheee!
